Kindergarten is the first time most children cross the threshold of education. It’s also the first time they clean up their own spill, write their name, read a book, turn 6, share a toy, line up, take a turn, try new foods, and maybe even chase a butterfly. I hope you enjoy our journey into Kindergarten!
Metamorphosis
I wanted the bulletin board to be fun, bright and really stand out. I drew the caterpillar from "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" and used tissue paper to give it a 3-D look. I did the same for the butterfly except I used larger pieces of tissue paper to give it more texture. The chrysalis was made with strips of brown paper. I first formed the caterpillar, made it into a "J" and finished by wrapping wider strips around it until it produced the look I wanted. The students loved displaying their own butterfly art and butterfly life-cycle sequence paper.
